1. General Description of our Digital Services

The companies of the Melitta Group offer digital services in electronic commerce. Our digital offerings include:

  • Websites and mobile applications (apps) for various end devices
  • Online stores for the purchase of our products and services
  • Platforms for subscribing to our newsletter
  • Portals for participation in competitions, cashback campaigns and other customer loyalty measures
  • Systems for registering devices and submitting revocations, complaints and repair orders

These digital offers enable our consumers to conclude contracts with us. Melitta Single Portions GmbH & Co. KG is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including persons with disabilities. This statement provides information on the accessibility of the services offered through our Avoury. The Tea. app and explains how these services comply with the requirements of the Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG), the Regulation on the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSGV), and related European and national legislation.

2. Description of Services and Functionality
The Avoury. The Tea. app offers an online shop for the purchase of tea, tea machines, and related products. The online shop is an e-commerce service provided for the conclusion of consumer contracts.
The purchase process within the app is multi-step:

  • Users select products and add them to the shopping cart using the quantity selection button.
  • The shopping cart displays the selected products.
  • To complete a purchase, users log in with their e-mail address and password. If no account exists, registration is required via a form that collects all necessary information (e.g., address). Missing information is clearly indicated.
  • After registration or login, users proceed to checkout, where they may enter a different shipping address and select a shipping method.
  • Payment methods can be chosen and a voucher code may be entered.
  • A summary of the order is displayed before final submission. By clicking “Buy Now,” the user submits a binding offer to conclude a contract.
Additionally, the app can be used to operate Avoury tea machines.

4. Compliance with Accessibility Requirements
The accessibility of our app is based on the international standards of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We strive to meet these standards throughout the app. Where individual limitations exist, we have initiated measures to address them. In the meantime, we ensure that our app is fundamentally perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

5. Non-accessible Content and Current Implementation Status
We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our app. Some areas currently do not fully meet the requirements. Below is an overview of the current status and planned improvements:

  • Text alternatives for controls and graphics: Some icons, images, and decorative graphics lack adequate text alternatives (alt texts), which may hinder use for individuals relying on screen readers.
  • Labelling of content and structure: Structural elements such as headings are not consistently marked in the code, which may affect navigation for screen reader users.
  • Keyboard operation and focus order: In certain areas, the app is not fully operable using an external keyboard, and the focus order of elements may be inconsistent.
  • Color contrast and visual presentation: In some parts of the app, the contrast between text and background is insufficient, especially with gray and green tones, which may affect readability for users with visual impairments.
  • Form fields and error messages: Form fields and their labels are not always correctly linked, and error messages may not be clearly understandable or are only indicated by color.
  • Checkout process: The checkout area is integrated as a webview that mirrors the Avoury website. We are working to resolve any accessibility limitations on the website side.
  • Assistive technology issues in webview content: The content of the “Terms and Conditions,” “Privacy Policy,” and “Imprint” pages cannot be navigated using standard swipe gestures with screen readers. Users must click directly into the content area for it to be read aloud.
  • Availability of the accessibility statement: This statement is currently only accessible with an active internet connection, as it is loaded via webview within the app. Offline availability will be provided in the future.
