The blooms of kings.

Green tea pearls are also called Long Zhu – dragon eyes – in Chinese. Long ago, this tea earned the right to be called an “imperial tribute tea”. Only the best tea farmers in the country, who were able to produce particularly fine teas, were allowed to pay their imperial tribute. At first it was only the extraordinary taste that impressed the emperor, but later he was also enthusiastic about the beautiful tea creations that came about. Jasmine tea is carefully made by hand. During the first days of spring, the youngest and most tender tea leaves and buds are picked. The tea is then heated in a wok, which makes the leaves soft and supple, after which it is rolled by hand into balls and individually wrapped in tissue paper. Once dried, it is stored for four months – until the jasmine begins to bloom in summer. For five consecutive nights, the freshly picked jasmine is gently mixed with the tea pearls, so that the fine aroma of the flowers can be transferred to the tea. The tea leaves are then separated from the flowers every morning and lightly dried. The result is a tea creation that appeals to all the senses.
