Rooibos is probably the most finicky tea in the world, because this plant relies on the combination of a special climate and specific soil – or it won’t grow. These two elements coincide in the Cederberg mountains near the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa. The name “rooibos” is made up of the words, rooi (red) and bos (bush), which describe the external appearance of this plant to a tee. Rooibos tea gets its typical reddish-brown colour during fermentation. The honeybush with its yellow flowers is practically the little brother of the rooibos. This is another plant that requires fynbos – the special floral kingdom of the Cape region of South Africa – to grow. Honeybush tea shimmers amber to deep copper and as the name promises, smells of sweet honey notes. HONEY ROOIBOS combines classic rooibos with honeybush, capturing the spirit of Africa in a single cup.
