Yerba mate is not tea in the classical sense, since it is not derived from the tea plant Camelia Sinensis but from the leaves of the yerba mate shrub, which is native to South America. The indigenous people of South America have been drinking yerba mate since before the colonisation era and it is still very popular to this day. As in the past, today it can also be enjoyed cold.

Mate tea contains a high concentration of mateine, theobromine and theophylline, which are known for its stimulating and metabolism-boosting effects. These ingredients cannot only boost fat burning, but also reduce the feeling of hunger and thus help with weight loss.
